Manchester by the Sea
A lot of garage-punk bands take themselves very seriously. PROTO IDIOT do not.
The Manchester three-piece – led by Andrew Anderson also of The Hipshakes, along with Callum Darley (drums) and Michael Seal (bass) – are having a great time on their new album ‘Leisure Opportunity’ (read our review of it here).
If you want a taster of what they’re all about, you only need to listen to the first track on the album ‘Theme’.
“This is our theme song based on the motion picture of our lives,” says Anderson. “We were inspired by the stupid thoughts that are stuck in our skulls. Hopefully it adequately explains who we are, why we do what we do, and why we’re a big bunch of bozos.”
The album, released worldwide by Slovenly Recording (in collaboration with Bad Paintings for the UK) is out on 3 November. Pre-order it here.
For the moment, though, here it is to enjoy in all of its Wire meets Mclusky glory.
