London brutalists Crows embrace their psychedelic side on ‘Unwelcome Light’ – premiere

The most recent release from north London’s Crows ‘Whisper’ was a powerhouse punk tune with a chanting chorus that seemed to cast the band alongside the likes of METZ or Savages.

However, this latest song ‘Unwelcome Light’, the title track from a forthcoming new EP is something a little bit different. Far more drowsy, more psychedelic, packed with squalling echo. The vocals for this were recorded in a pitch black corridor according to front man James Cox, which gives you an indication of the kind of vibe they’re chasing.

The ‘Unwelcome Light’ EP arrives via Telharmonium later this month (25 March).

The foursome have a reputation for being an intense and confrontational experience, they head out on a UK tour later this month kicking off at Glasgow’s Broadcast on 28 March, before taking in Manchester, London, Leeds, Bristol and London.
