Listen to a shadowy rework of Reuben Hollebon’s ‘FACES’ – premiere

The Norfolk experimentalist has his track ‘FACES’ brilliantly mutated by Björk collaborator Damian Taylor.

Once upon a time Reuben Hollebon worked on the soundtrack for David Attenborough’s Human Planet so he’s a guy who knows his way around a majestic soundscape.

But there’s plenty of story that came before that. Hollebon grew up on a council estate in Norfolk. More into football than music he didn’t pick up a guitar until he was 18, but the enjoyment he took from songwriting encouraged him to quit his job at a local garden centre and go to music college and then university to study audio. A couple of years later he moved from Yorkshire to London, where he bagged a role as studio engineer for notable experimentalist and composer Nitin Sawhney. He later worked for a firm who produced TV (hence Human Planet) and game soundtracks.

Now, he’s taking the plunge with his own stuff. A full debut album, ‘Terminal Nostalgia’, is on its way, due in May. He’s been getting noticed with his track ‘FACES’ and here is a new version, reworked by producer Damian Taylor (Björk, Arcade Fire).
